Welcome to Champion Ted.
Champion Ted is my way of reaching out to families who, like mine, have found themselves walking the difficult path of supporting a parent through illness. This space is for anyone who has felt the weight of uncertainty and the quiet strength it takes to keep going, reminding you that, no matter how hard the journey gets, you don’t have to face it alone.
Throughout my mum’s illness, I realised how crucial it was to have a place where I could process everything—somewhere to feel heard, understood, and supported. This website is built on that understanding.
It’s a space for stories, both mine and yours, alongside expert advice that can help make those impossible conversations a little easier.
Whether you’re here looking for guidance, for comfort, or just to know that someone else understands what you’re going through, Champion Ted is here for you.
The articles on Champion Ted are personal—rooted in my own experiences and the things I’ve learned along the way. They explore the many facets of what it means to navigate illness within a family, from explaining a parent’s illness to children to finding ways to take care of yourself when everything feels like it’s falling apart.
I’ve written these pieces to share what I’ve learned, but also to remind you that you don’t have to carry everything alone.
Alongside the articles, I will also share my journey through charity events—from marathons to rowing races and everything in between—raising money for organisations that support families dealing with illness.
These events are a way for me to honour my mum and make a difference. If you’d like to join or support, I’d love for you to be part of the journey.
